   King County Parks boast 25,000 acres of park lands including more than 180 neighborhood parks with amenities such as ball fields, pools, bike trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, camping, off leash areas, historic venues for wedding or corporate event, and 175 miles of trails.  The City of Seattle maintains over 400 parks and open areas encompassing 6,200 acres of parklands. With children's play areas, off leash parks, hiking trails, athletic fields, public gardens, nature preserves, and pools Seattle's parks have something for everyone! Seattle's largest park, Discovery Park, covers 534 acres situated on the Magnolia Bluff and encompassing former Fort Lawton. The park has over two miles of protected tidal beaches, open meadows, sea cliffs, forests and streams providing a sanctuary for diverse wildlife.  The Seattle Parks Foundation is constantly working to improve the City's parks. In the six years since it's founding, it has helped to raise over $24 million dollars to complete projects all over the city and fund 3 new parks. |
